El Badi Palace Ruins

What an amazing place! My imagination was let lose from the moment I stepped foot inside the walls. Seeing how the palace has been left to look now, I thought back to how it might have looked when it was first built and before it was demolished. I though about interiors, the furnishings, the family who lived there and the people working there.

It was the perfect opportunity to take beautiful picture and find a quite spot to sit and draw.

We spent hours wondering around the grounds, exploring the underground tombs and gaining as much information as we could.

The detail left behind after the demolition gave a slight glimpse into the beauty of the original badi palace. The bright colours used in the tiles and the water fountains found in most rooms. The great court yard at the center of the palace contained beautiful gardens, water features and swimming pools. None of which seem to be in use anymore.

The holes in the walls are where the scaffolding poles would be when the building was being constructed.
